Key study used a SARS-CoV-2 human challenge dataset to model viral dynamics and immune responses.

▶️ It found that infectious virus increases sublinearly with total virus, suggesting the fraction of infectious particles declines.

▶️ Viral replication is extremely rapid, doubling every 2-3 hours early on.

▶️ Innate immunity limits viral growth initially, but wanes as infection is controlled.

▶️ Adaptive immunity, including antibodies and T cells, kicks in around 7-10 days and contributes to stepwise viral decline, though rebounds can occur as the innate response fades.
